Sidney Crosby is officially the king of the dot.
With his 15,183 faceoff win in the second period of Tuesday's game against the Columbus Blue Jackets, the Pittsburgh Penguins captain passed Boston Bruins legend Patrice Bergeron for the most faceoff wins in NHL history (since the league started tracking the stat in 1997-98).
Crosby entered Tuesday's action with a 52.7 per cent career faceoff win percentage, while Bergeron finished his career at 59.7 per cent.
Anze Kopitar is third on the all-time list with 14,031 wins, Joe Thorton fourth with 13,408 and Jonathan Toews is fifth with 11,986.
In Crosby's rookie season, he struggled in the circle, finishing with a 45.5 per cent win percentage.
But he steadily improved season after season, and added another weapon to one of the best all-around games the league has ever seen.
