Sidney Crosby just keeps making history.
The Penguins captain collected his 1,017th assist Tuesday at home against the Lightning, moving him up to 13th on the all-time list.
Mid-way through the second period, Crosby passed the puck between the legs of Tampa Bay's Victor Hedman to Rickard Rakell, who fired a one-timer past Andrei Vasilevskiy.
With the assist, Crosby overtook long-time Avalanche captain Joe Sakic and now sits just below his mentor Mario Lemieux, who had 1,033.
Crosby is also chasing a scoring milestone, as he sits one goal away from 600.
The Lightning won the game 3-2 in overtime.
