New Ottawa Senators owner Michael Andlauer has brought back a familiar face to lead the organization as CEO.
Cyril Leeder is returning to the team he helped found as an expansion franchise in the early 1990s, Andlauer announced in his first press conference on Friday. Leeder served in various roles over the years, including leading construction of the team's practice facility and running the Canadian Tire Centre.
Leeder was promoted to president and CEO of the Senators in 2009 and held that title until he was fired by former owner Eugene Melnyk in 2017.
Andlauer and a group of investors closed the purchase of the Senators this week, for an estimated value of just below $1 billion.
