The San Jose Sharks have signed defenceman Mario Ferraro to a four-year contract extension, the club announced Thursday.
The team did not reveal contract details.
"Mario has shown that he is a dynamic and reliable defenseman for our club, skating top-level minutes against the best competition every night and delivering solid results," Sharks GM Mike Grier said. "His energy and work ethic are the reason why he has achieved so much in his early part of his career, and we look forward to watching him continue to grow and elevate his role on the team."
Ferraro, 23, had two goals and 12 assists in 63 games last season. He led San Jose in blocked shots (151) and ranked third in hits (140).
Ferraro has 42 points (five goals, 37 assists) in 180 career NHL games, all with the Sharks.
San Jose picked the Toronto native in the second round (49th overall) of the 2017 NHL Draft.
