New Jersey Devils forward Timo Meier is in the team's lineup for Friday's Game 2 against the Carolina Hurricanes.
Meier missed Game 1 — a 5-1 win for the Hurricanes — due to an upper-body injury he suffered in Round 1.
The winger exited Game 7 against the New York Rangers after taking a big hit from defenceman Jacob Trouba.
Meier was cleared to return after being examined following the open-ice hit early in the Devils' 4-0 series-clinching win.
The Devils acquired Meier at the trade deadline from the San Jose Sharks. He was considered one of the top players available at the deadline.
Meier did not have a point in the series against the Rangers after putting up 14 points (nine goals, five assists) in 21 regular-season games with the Devils.
Meanwhile, the Hurricanes announced they will be without backup netminder Antti Raanta, who will not play Friday due to an illness. Pyotr Kochetkov will serve as Frederik Andersen's back-up in Raanta's stead. Andersen stopped 17-of-18 shots he faced in the Hurricanes' Game 1 victory.
You can watch Meier make his return for the Devils in Game 2 live on Sportsnet and SN NOW at 8 p.m. ET / 5 p.m. PT.
