The New Jersey Devils will allow prospect Alexander Holtz to join team Sweden in the upcoming IIHF World Junior Championship, the team announced Friday.
Holtz was the Devils’ first-round selection (seventh overall) in the 2020 NHL Draft. The 19-year-old has played the majority of the 2021-22 season in Utica of the American Hockey League, registering six goals and 10 points in 10 games played for the Comets.
Holtz has played in the World Junior Championship twice before, helping Sweden earn bronze in the 2020 tournament.
