New Jersey Devils forward Jack Hughes returned to practice Friday for the first time since sustaining an injury to his right shoulder two weeks ago.
Hughes was back on the top line alongside Erik Haula and Curtis Lazar, according to team reporter Amanda Stein.
The 22-year-old Hughes crashed into the boards during a game against the St. Louis Blues on Nov. 3 and has missed five games. At the time, he was leading the NHL in scoring with 20 points (five goals and 15 assists) in 10 games.
Hughes set career highs with 43 goals and 56 assists for 99 points in 78 games last season.
The Devils have gone 2-3-0 without Hughes and next play host to the New York Rangers on Saturday.
Hughes will be a game-time decision, Devils head coach Lindy Ruff told reporters after practice.
