The New Jersey Devils have placed left wing Ondrej Palat on injured reserve with a lower-body injury, according to the team. The move is retroactive to October 24.
Palat had sat out the Devils' last two games, wins against the Detroit Red Wings and Colorado Avalanche. The team said a final determination on Palat's injury will be reached on Monday.
New Jersey has called up Andreas Johnsson from the AHL's Utica Comets. Johnsson leads the Comets with six points in four games.
After being priced out of Tampa, Palat was the Devils' biggest off-season acquisition, signing a five-year, $30 million contract.
Palat was drafted by the Lightning in the seventh round in 2011, but became a key contributor to the team's two Stanley Cup wins. He played 766 games for the club, scoring 517 points. Palat has scored 12 GWG in the playoffs.
He's had three goals in siz games for his new team.
