The New Jersey Devils have signed college free agent forward Dylan Wendt to a two-year, entry-level contract, the team announced Thursday.
The contract will begin in 2024-25, but the forward from Western Michigan University will spend the remainder of this season on an amateur tryout with AHL Utica.
The two-year deal is worth $1.9 million ($950,000 AAV).
Wendt, 23, finished his junior season with 23 goals and 44 points in 38 games.
His Western Michigan Broncos finished the year with a 20-13-1 record, ranking 14th in the final NCAA ranking on March 10. They would be eliminated in the first round of the collegiate tournament, losing 5-4 to No. 4 ranked Michigan State.
The 6-foot-1, 185lbs. forward was on the long list for the Hobey Baker Award for the NCAA's top collegiate player.
Prior to his NCAA career, he spent three seasons in the USHL from the 2018-19 season to the 2020-21 season, playing for Green Bay and Muskegon.
