The Calgary Flames assigned defenceman Mark Pysyk to the Calgary Wranglers of the American Hockey League on Sunday.
The Flames signed Pysyk to a one-year, two-way deal worth $725,000 on Saturday. He has played eight games with the AHL's Wilkes Barre/Scranton Penguins this season.
“Mark is a right-shot defenceman who provides depth on the blue line for our organization,” Flames general manager Craig Conroy said in a release after the signing. “He is a versatile player with significant NHL experience.”
Pysyk has tallied 104 points (28 goals and 76 assists) in 521 games over 10 seasons with the Buffalo Sabres, Florida Panthers and Dallas Stars.
The 31-year-old from Sherwood Park, Alta., last played in the NHL during the 2021-22 season when he re-joined the Sabres. He signed as a free agent with the Detroit Red Wings in July 2022 but sustained a torn Achilles Tendon and did not play with the club.
