High-scoring defenceman Zayne Parekh is returning to the Saginaw Spirit.
The Calgary Flames announced Friday that Parekh has been assigned back to his Ontario Hockey League club.
Parekh was drafted ninth overall by the Flames in June following a stellar season with the Spirit.
The 18-year-old from Nobleton, Ont., led the team in scoring with 96 points (33 goals and 63 assists) in 66 games.
He was named the OHL's most outstanding defenceman for the season.
Parekh also registered five points in five games to help Saginaw win its first-ever Memorial Cup title.
