With the returns of forwards Sam Honzek and Yegor Sharangovich on the horizon, the Calgary Flames have assigned Matt Coronato to the AHL's Calgary Wranglers.
The Flames announced the move Friday afternoon.
Coronato, 21, had played in five of Calgary's seven games to begin the season, registering two goals — both in a win over the Chicago Blackhawks on Oct. 15. He was averaging just over 12 minutes of ice time per game.
Selected by the Flames 13th overall in 2021, Coronato made his NHL debut in 2022-23 and spent the majority of 2023-24 skating with the Wranglers.
In 42 games with the Wranglers last season, the right-hander shooting winger scored 15 goals and 42 points. In 34 games with the NHL club, he had three goals and nine points.
The Flames will look to bounce back from their first loss in regulation on Saturday when they host the unbeaten Winnipeg Jets. You can catch all the action on Sportsnet West or 360 or stream the game on Sportsnet+, starting at 7 p.m. ET / 5 p.m. MT.
