The Calgary Flames have assigned forward Jakob Pelletier to the AHL’s Calgary Wranglers, the club announced Monday.
Pelletier hasn’t played in the regular season after suffering a shoulder injury on a hit from Seattle’s Marian Studenic during a Sept. 25 pre-season game at the Saddledome.
Pelletier underwent shoulder surgery in early October.
The 22-year-old Pelletier had three goals and four assists in 24 games for the Flames last season and 16 goals and 21 assists for 37 points in 35 games for the Wranglers.
The Flames picked Pelletier in the first round (26th overall) of the 2019 NHL Draft.
Meanwhile, the Flames placed forward Kevin Rooney on waivers.
Rooney, 30, also has been out all season with a shoulder injury.
