Calgary's captain is preparing to make his return.
Mikael Backlund returned to Flames practice today for the first time since suffering an injury on March 12 vs. the Canucks. He was listed as day-to-day with an upper-body ailment.
Although he participated in practice, his exact return to game action is still unclear. So far, he has missed five games.
“We’re obviously happy to have Backs back in the lineup as soon as we can get him,” Blake Coleman said after practice. “For me, it’s another way to feel right at home, is seeing No. 11 on the ice.
“It’s always good to have him back.”
The 36-year-old centre has 11 goals and 13 assists in 64 games played this season.
