• Flames' Connor Zary avoids broken leg after collision with Stars' Mikko Rantanen

The Calgary Flames and Connor Zary can breathe a sigh of relief after finding out some positive news Friday morning.

Although the team did suffer a hard loss to the Dallas Stars 5-2 in the midst of its playoff push, the bigger loss looked to be Zary, who some suspected suffered a broken leg on a play involving Mikko Rantanen.

According to Sportsnet's Eric Francis, Zary didn't break his leg and will have imaging Friday afternoon. It's also believed the damage to the knee isn't as bad as originally thought.

Zary apparently suffered the injury on an awkward collision with Rantanen in the third period and did not return to the game.

Rantanen lost an edge midway through the third and slid into Zary along the boards. Zary's knee appeared to get stuck, bending at an awkward angle as he fell.

The 23-year-old was in visible pain while clutching his left knee. He remained down on the ice as training staff tended to him before teammates helped him off the ice.

Especially concerning for the Flames is that Zary suffered a long-term injury to his knee in January, which caused him to miss nearly a month.

The Saskatoon native has 13 goals and 26 points in 53 games this season.
