  • Flames' Gilbert leaves game vs. Predators with injury

Calgary Flames defenceman Dennis Gilbert left Thursday's game against the Nashville Predators with an injury in the third period after taking an awkward hit.

Gilbert collected the puck along the boards late in the third period and, after passing it up-ice, took a hit from Phil Tomasino and appeared to land awkwardly. He lay motionless on the ice momentarily, before being attended to by trainers. He was then helped off the ice by teammates.

'We are all thinking about him': Flames' Coleman on Gilbert after scary fall
Ryan Leslie is joined by Calgary Flames' Blake Coleman to discuss the offensive explosion in the win against the Predators, and the injury Dennis Gilbert suffered after a scary incident.

After the game, head coach Ryan Huska said that while he hadn't spoken to their head of sports physio, he saw Gilbert moving and assumed he would be fine.

"He'll just probably have to go through protocol is what I would assume right now," Huska told reporters.

Gilbert, 26, has one goal and seven points through 27 games this season with the Flames.
