The Flames will have to go without one of their top-scoring forwards as they continue their road trip Thursday night.
Calgary's Anthony Mantha was placed on injured reserve on Thursday ahead of the Flames' game against the Boston Bruins. At the team's earlier morning skate, head coach Ryan Huska told reporters that Mantha was "still being evaluated."
In a corresponding move, winger Dryden Hunt was recalled from AHL Calgary.
Mantha exited Tuesday's 3-2 OT win over the Montreal Canadiens with a lower-body injury after taking a hit behind the Montreal net in the first period. He stayed down shortly after the hit and was slow to skate to the bench right before the first intermission.
Calgary made the announcement at the beginning of the second period. After the game, Flames head coach Ryan Huska didn't have an update on Mantha's status.
The 30-year-old had played just over five minutes in the game, recording one shot on goal.
Mantha signed with the Flames as a free agent this off-season and has scored four goals and seven points in 12 games with his new club.
The Flames face off against the Bruins at 7 p.m. ET / 4 p.m. PT. You can catch the action on Sportsnet or stream on Sportsnet+.
