Calgary Flames forward Martin Pospisil was ejected from Thursday's game against the Jets after being handed a five-minute major and game misconduct for elbowing Winnipeg defenceman Josh Morrissey.
The incident occurred with 43 seconds left in the second period. As Morrissey was coming out of his own end, Pospisil met him at the blue line with a big open-ice hit. Morrissey was able to get up on his own and get back to his bench right after the hit.
It was originally called as a two-minute minor for elbowing, however, after a review, the referees changed it to a five-minute major and an ejection.
Pospisil, a rookie, has been given three major penalties since the all-star break, including a boarding call on Seattle Kraken defenceman Vince Dunn that resulted in a three-game suspension in early March.
The 24-year-old has been a steady contributor for the Flames in his rookie season, notching eight goals and 20 points in 55 games after starting the year with the AHL's Calgary Wranglers.
