The Calgary Flames have signed defenceman Mark Pysyk to a one-year, two-way deal with an AAV of $725,000, the team announced Saturday.
“Mark is a right-shot defenceman who provides depth on the blue line for our organization,” said Flames general manager Craig Conroy in a release. “He is a versatile player with significant NHL experience.”
Shortly after signing Pysyk, the Flames placed him on waivers.
Pysyk, 31, has played 521 NHL games over his career with the Buffalo Sabres, Florida Panthers and Dallas Stars. He last played in the NHL when he appeared in 68 games for the Sabres in 2021-22.
The Flames were in need of defensive depth after they made headlines Thursday night by trading defenceman Nikita Zadorov to the Vancouver Canucks in exchange for a fifth-round pick in the 2024 NHL Draft and a third-round pick in 2026.
