The Calgary Flames have locked up some depth in net.
Calgary announced Thursday that it has signed 26-year-old goaltender Connor Murphy to a one-year, two-way contract. The move is for the remainder of the 2024-25 season.
The deal has an annual average value of $775,000.
Murphy has split time between the AHL's Calgary Wranglers and the ECHL's Rpid City Rush this season. He has a 2-2-0 record, 4.14 goals-against average and .881 save percentage in four games with the Wranglers.
In the ECHL, he has an 8-6-4 record, 2.97 GAA and .912 save percentage.
A Hudson Falls, N.Y. native, Murphy joined the Flames organization in 2023-24, appearing in 15 games with the Wranglers.
Sportsnet's Pat Steinberg reported that the Murphy signing has no impact on the status of backup Flames goaltender Dan Vladar ahead of Friday's NHL trade deadline.
