Calgary Flames goaltender Dan Vladar will get the start for Friday's game against the Toronto Maple Leafs, head coach Ryan Huska confirmed to reporters.
Huska said regular starter Jacob Markstrom is listed as day to day and will not be dressed for Friday's game.
Recent AHL call-up Dustin Wolf will back up Vladar with Markstrom unavailable.
Vladar, 26, has had a shaky start to the season with a 4.00 GAA and .844 save percentage through three starts -- much worse than his 2.83 GAA and 0.895 save percentage numbers from 2022-23.
Wolf is one of the top goaltender prospects in the league, and led the AHL in most of the main goalie categories last season. In 53 games for the Calgary Wranglers in 2022-23, Wolf had a 2.08 goals-against average, .932 save percentage and seven shutouts, all of which led the league.
Calgary (4-7-1) has had a disappointing start to the 2023-24 season, but has won its last two games after infusing some youth into the lineup.
