The Philadelphia Flyers will have two important veterans at training camp, general manager Daniel Briere announced Tuesday.
Centre Sean Couturier and winger Cam Atkinson are healthy and ready to participate, Briere told reporters.
Couturier, 30, has missed the last year and a half with a back injury, which he had surgery on in February of 2022. He signed an eight-year, $62-million contract ahead of the 2022-23 season but has not played in a game since Dec. 18, 2021 due to his injury.
Atkinson, 34, also missed the entire 2022-23 season after having neck surgery. He had 50 points in 73 games in 2021-22.
The Flyers have missed the playoffs in three consecutive years and finished seventh in the Metropolitan Division last season with a 31-38-13 record.
