The Philadelphia Flyers and defenceman Nick Seeler are nearing an agreement on a contract extension, Sportsnet's Elliotte Friedman reports.
Seeler, a pending unrestricted free agent, is a candidate to be moved ahead of Friday's trade deadline.
The Flyers announced on Wednesday that Seeler was being placed on injured reserve with a lower-body injury.
Seeler suffered the injury blocking a shot in Monday's loss to the Blues, but Kevin Kurz of The Athletic reports that the defenceman will "not be out long term."
Seeler, 30, is a six-foot-three defensive defenceman who has 12 points and a plus-15 rating in 63 games this season.
