Flyers sign D Rasmus Ristolainen to five-year, $25.5M extension

Flyers defenceman Rasmus Ristolainen discusses why it was such an easy decision to sign long-term in Philadelphia, loving his teammates, the fanbase and the direction the franchise is heading in.

Philadelphia Flyers defenceman Rasmus Ristolainen is signing a five-year extension with an average annual value of $5.1 million.

Ristolainen was slated to become an unrestricted free agent this summer.

The 27-year-old Finnish defenceman was traded to the Flyers by the Buffalo Sabres last summer.

Ristolainen has two goals and 11 assists in 49 games this season.

The Sabres picked Ristolainen eighth overall in the 2013 NHL Draft.
