The Philadelphia Flyers have signed defenceman Marc Staal to a one-year, $1.1-million contract, the team announced Monday.
Staal spent the 2022-23 season with the Florida Panthers, where he recorded 15 points in 82 games. He also appeared in all 21 games during the Panthers' run to the Stanley Cup Final.
The 36-year-old has played 16 seasons in the NHL with the New York Rangers, Detroit Red Wings and Panthers.
Staal reunites with Flyers head coach John Tortorella, who was the Rangers head coach from 2008 to 2013. Staal was selected in the first round of the 2005 NHL Draft by New York.
