New Flyers head coach John Tortorella is worried about his team's locker-room culture.
Speaking on SiriusXNHL on Thursday, the Philadelphia coach was asked about how he felt about the loss of veteran Claude Giroux, the need to name a new captain, and the evolution of the Flyers' locker room in light of Giroux's departure.
"I am in no rush to name a captain," Tortorella said. "As far as the room ... I have major concerns about the room.
"I've spent some time in the office, talking to players, talking to personnel, talking to (GM) Chuck (Fletcher), all the front office. And I have major concerns about what goes on in there.
"Before we even step on the ice, the situation and standards and accountability in the room is forefront. You can't get squat done on the ice until you get your room worked out."
Tortorella was hired on June 17 to lead the Flyers, who have just 50 wins over the course of their last two seasons have have only made the playoffs once in the last four.
