Goaltender Ian Scott has decided to hang up the pads after trying to battle back from injuries.
The former Toronto Maple Leafs draft pick and Prince Albert Raiders netminder announced his retirement on his Instagram page.
"No athlete wants to make this kind of post but I have decided to step away from playing hockey," Scott wrote. "Over the past few years I’ve been battling injuries and working hard to get back to full playable health but unfortunately, I have decided to take a step back & start a new life chapter,"
The Leafs selected the Calgary native in the fourth round of the 2017 NHL Draft. Scott was named the CHL's goaltender of the year in 2018-19 after leading the Raiders to a WHL title after going 16-6-1 record with five shutouts and posting a 1.96 goals-against average and a .925 save percentage in the playoffs.
Scott has dealt with a number of injuries including a hip injury that required surgery in 2019 that has limited him to seven games.
