  • Former NHLer Cody Hodgson scores first pro goal in eight years in Milwaukee win

Former NHLer Cody Hodgson scored his first professional hockey goal in eight years — and the first of his comeback — when he capped off a 4-0 win on Thursday for the Milwaukee Admirals over the Chicago Wolves in the American Hockey League.

Hodgson's last pro season was in 2015-16, also with the Admirals, after being sent down by the Nashville Predators after 39 games.

Drafted 10th overall in 2008 by the Vancouver Canucks, the 33-year-old retired on Oct. 3, 2016, subsequently revealing he had been diagnosed with malignant hyperthermia, an adverse reaction to medications that can result in fever, rapid heart rate and muscle rigidity and/or breakdown.

Last month he announced he had signed a professional tryout agreement with the Admirals in an attempt to return to pro hockey. This game marked just the third of his pro comeback.

In 328 games with the Canucks, Nashville Predators and Buffalo Sabres, the Toronto native had 64 goals and 78 assists for 142 points.

His last NHL goal came on Dec. 15, 2015 for Nashville against the Calgary Flames.
