After five seasons in the NHL, former Ottawa Senators forward Dominik Kubalik is set to rejoin former team Ambri-Piotta in the Swiss league, the team announced on Wednesday.
Kubalik, 29, spent parts of his five years with the Chicago Blackhawks, Detroit Red Wings and Senators.
He was an unrestricted free agent this off-season.
The Pizen, Czechia, native struggled last season — his lone year in Ottawa — picking up a career-low 11 goals and four assists in 74 games.
He looked like a solid NHL contributor in years past, tallying 30 goals and 16 assists in 68 games during his rookie year in 2019-20 with the Blackhawks. Over the course of his career, he has 93 goals and 83 assists in 357 games.
Originally a seventh-round pick (191st overall) by the Los Angeles Kings, Kubalik was traded to the Blackhawks in 2019. After spending three years in Chicago, he joined the Red Wings as a free agent in 2022.
He was traded to the Senators in 2023 as part of the deal to land forward Alex DeBrincat.
Kubalik played two seasons in Switzerland before coming to the NHL, last suiting up for Ambri-Piotta in 2018-19. He has 35 goals and 49 assists in 75 regular season games with the club.
