Goaltender Devan Dubnyk announced his retirement Saturday following 12 seasons in the NHL.
The 36-year-old from Regina, who played four games with the AHL's Charlotte Checkers last season, had a 253-206-54 record over his dozen seasons in the NHL with the Edmonton Oilers, Nashville Predators, Arizona Coyotes, Minnesota Wild, San Jose Sharks and Colorado Avalanche.
Dubnyk was drafted 14th overall by the Oilers in 2004 and made his major league debut on Nov. 28, 2009. He was traded twice in 2014 — first to Nashville and then to the Montreal Canadiens, who he never played for.
Dubnyk signed as a free agent with the Coyotes in July 2014 but was on the move again in January 2015 to the Wild where he had a career resurgence as a starting netminder and was a finalist for the Vezina Trophy and was awarded the Bill Masterton Trophy.
During his tenure in Minnesota, Dubnyk appeared in the All-Star Game three times and recorded a career-high 40 wins during the 2016-17 season.
Dubnyk was traded to the Sharks in October 2020 and was on the move again in April 2021 to the Avalanche.
He also won gold medals for Canada at the 2006 world junior championship and 2012 Spengler Cup.
