Golden Knights acquire Blueger from Penguins for DiLiberatore, third-round pick

The Vegas Golden Knights have acquired centre Teddy Blueger from the Pittsburgh Penguins in exchange for defenceman Peter DiLiberatore and a 2024 third-round pick.

Blueger, 28, has played 45 games for the Penguins this season and has two goals and 10 points.

Originally a second-round pick by the Penguins back in 2012, Blueger has played in 250 career NHL games, all for Pittsburgh. He has 33 goals and 92 assists throughout his NHL career.

The trade appears to be a cap-clearing move for the Penguins, who also assigned both defenceman Mark Friedman and forward Brock McGinn to the AHL, leaving them now with just over $6 million in cap space.

Pittsburgh is currently clinging to the final wild-card spot in the Eastern Conference with a record of 30-21-9.
