Golden Knights acquire Dysin Mayo from Coyotes for fifth-round pick, Shea Weber's contract

The Vegas Golden Knights acquired defenceman Dysin Mayo from the Arizona Coyotes for defenceman Shea Weber's contract and a 2023 fifth-round pick on Wednesday afternoon.

Mayo, 26, has played in 15 games with the Coyotes this season while also spending time with Arizona's AHL affiliate — the Tucson Roadrunners.

He has yet to record a point with the NHL team but scored four goals and 12 points with the Coyotes in 2021-22.

The Golden Knights assigned Mayo to the Henderson Silver Knights of the AHL after the trade.

Weber, who still has four years remaining in his 14-year, $110-million contract, did not play for Vegas after a trade from the Montreal Canadiens last off-season.

The Golden Knights sit atop the Western Conference with a 34-18-5 record and now have more cap space to operate with heading into the March 3 trade deadline.

Arizona sits in seventh place in the Central Division with a 20-28-9 record.
