Vegas Knights goaltender Logan Thompson left Thursday night's contest against the Minnesota Wild with what appeared to be a non-contact injury.
Early in the third period, the rookie netminder scrambled to make a save on Minnesota forward Frederick Gaudreau. After pushing off on his right leg, Thompson turned over and stayed face down on the ice before the referees stopped the play.
He appeared to grab the back of his left leg while down, then had to be assisted off the ice while putting no pressure on his injured lower side.
The 25-year-old netminder was named to the 2023 NHL All-Star Game and along with Stuart Skinner of the Edmonton Oilers became the first rookie goaltenders to be selected to the game since John Gibson in 2016.
The Golden Knights cruised to a 5-1 win on Thursday, but now the health of their young goalie becomes the main concern.
Head coach Bruce Cassidy told reporters after the game Thompson will have an MRI exam Friday and "hopefully we get good news."
