Injured Vegas Golden Knights captain Mark Stone is not certain to return this season -- even if the club makes the playoffs.
Per Danny Webster of the Las Vegas Sun, Golden Knights coach Bruce Cassidy told reporters on Monday there could be an opportunity for Stone to return from a back injury if the club makes the playoffs.
The Golden Knights announced on Feb. 1 that Stone had back surgery and would be out of the lineup indefinitely.
The 30-year-old right winger from Winnipeg had 17 goals and 38 points in 43 games before sustaining the injury on Jan. 12.
Stone, who was named the first captain in franchise history on Jan. 13, 2021, also missed 26 games last year with back issues.
The Golden Knights currently hold down a playoff spot, sitting third in the Pacific Division.
