The driver accused of killing Johnny and Matthew Gaudreau in a crash this past summer in New Jersey has been indicted by a grand jury.
Sean Higgins was indicted Wednesday on charges of second-degree reckless vehicular homicide, first-degree aggravated manslaughter, fourth-degree tampering with physical evidence and second-degree leaving the scene of a fatal accident.
Higgins was charged with killing the Gaudreau brothers, who were on bicycles, on a rural New Jersey road on Aug. 29.
Authorities have said Higgins, who is from Woodstown, in southwestern New Jersey, was impaired after he drank five or six beers on the day he drove into the brothers' bicycles, and that he has a history of road rage and aggressive driving.
Higgins told police that on the day of his arrest, he had been driving around for two hours while talking to a friend on the phone after having an upsetting conversation with his mother.
Higgins' arraignment is scheduled for Jan. 7, 2025,
