Winnipeg Jets head coach Rick Bowness has rejoined the team after taking a leave of absence in October to be with his wife, who had a stroke.
Bowness told reporters on Friday that his wife, Judy, "was doing as well as we can expect" after receiving treatment and that "she is getting stronger every day" after "a life-changing moment for us."
Bowness said he spent longer away than expected because he wanted to be comfortable knowing he could leave Judy for a period of time.
Associate coach Scott Arniel has served as interim head coach in his absence.
"It’s family here. It’s part of what we talk about all of the time," Arniel said in October. "It really hits everyone hard."
The Jets are third in the Central Division with an 11-5-2 record and visit the Florida Panthers on Friday.
