The Carolina Hurricanes have signed University of Massachusetts star Scott Morrow to a three-year, entry-level contract, the team announced Tuesday.
Morrow will receive $807,500 at the NHL level in 2023-24 and $832,500 at the NHL level in 2024-25 and 2025-26. The deal also included a a signing bonus of $277,500.
"Scott is a dynamic, offensive-minded defenceman who has consistently been one of the top-performing blueliners in college hockey,” said Hurricanes president and general manager Don Waddell in a statement. “He has shown the drive and dedication to graduate in three years, and we look forward to seeing the next steps in his development."
In 37 games with UMass this season, Morrow recorded six goals and 24 assists. He was named a conference third-team all-star. In his freshman season, Morrow led conference defenceman in goals and points, and became the first freshman in UMass history to be selected to the conference's first all-star team.
The 21-year-old defenceman was selected by the Hurricanes in the second round of the 2021 NHL Draft.
