The Buffalo Sabres will have their depth tested on defence for the next several weeks.
General manager Kevyn Adams told reporters on Thursday that Mattias Samuelsson (lower-body injury) will be out several weeks, while Henri Jokiharju (facial fracture) also is week-to-week.
Jokiharju was injured last Thursday in Calgary, while Samuelsson was hurt last Saturday in Vancouver.
The Sabres are off to a 4-2 start this season after winning three of four on a western swing.
Buffalo is home to face the Montreal Canadiens on Thursday.
