New York Islanders forward Mathew Barzal will not be in the lineup against the Calgary Flames and has been listed as day-to-day with a lower body injury, the team announced Friday.
According to Flames Talk's Pat Steinberg, Barzal was a late scratch after he took line rushes during warmups in Calgary.
It is unclear when the 25-year-old sustained the injury, but the Islanders are on the second half of a back-to-back looking to recover from a 4-2 loss to the Edmonton Oilers.
Barzal has bee playing at just over a point-per-game, with 11 goals and 41 points in 40 games so far this season.
The Coquitlam, B.C. native was selected 16th overall by the New York Islanders at the 2015 NHL draft.
