The injury bug just won't leave the New York Islanders alone this season.
This time it bit centre Bo Horvat who the Islanders announced on Saturday is day-to-day with a lower-body injury.
Horvat, 29, has been one of New York's most productive players this season. His 22 points (eight goals, 14 assists) are third-most on the Islanders, and his plus-eight rating is third-best on the team. He has yet to miss a game this year, suiting up in all 31 contests for New York thus far.
The former ninth overall pick in 2013 had found his form recently as well, scoring goals in three of the team's last four outings. His latest score came in the Islanders' 5-4 win over the Chicago Blackhawks on Thursday.
Should Horvat miss time, he'd be joining a growing list of Islanders who are off the ice currently. Forwards Anthony Duclair and Mathew Barzal, along with defenceman Adam Pelech are all on the injured reserve already. meanwhile, goalie Semyon Varlamov is also considered day-to-day as of Friday.
The Islanders return to action on Sunday, taking on the Blackhawks yet again as the squads complete a home-and-home set in Chicago.
