Islanders captain Anders Lee out indefinitely with lower-body injury

This could be a tough loss for the New York Islanders, as power forward Anders Lee was down in pain and forced to leave the game, after this awkward collision with the Devils' Pavel Zacha.

New York Islanders captain Anders Lee is out indefinitely with a lower-body injury, the team announced on Friday.

The Islanders say no further update on Lee's status will be provided at this time.

Lee, 30, left Thursday night's game against the New Jersey Devils in the first period after he got tangled up with Pavel Zacha. Lee was helped off the ice and appeared unable to put weight on his right leg.

The Edina, Minn., native was playing in his 295th consecutive game for the Isles, the third-longest streak in franchise history. Lee leads the team with 12 goals this season to go along with 19 points in 27 games.
