New York Islanders centre Casey Cizikas has been fined $5,000, the maximum allowable amount under the collective bargaining agreement, for goalie interference on Chicago Blackhawks goaltender Alex Stalock.
Stalock left the game in the first period after he was pushed into the goalpost by Cizikas just 2:56 into the game. The Islanders won 3-1 after Stalock's departure.
Cizikas was assessed a major penalty for goalie interference and a game misconduct after the forward's backhander was stopped by Stalock and he continued to propel into the goaltender.
