Winnipeg Jets head coach Rick Bowness did not mince words when talking about his team's 5-0 loss against the Western Conference-leading Vancouver Canucks.
"The bottom line is that's the worst game we have played in my two years here, by far," the bench boss told reporters after the game. "We didn't have one player play a good game. Not one.
"It starts there and it ends there. It's as simple as that."
The Jets, second in the Metropolitan Division but first in points percentage, were on their heels early and often after the Canucks scored their first goal less than three minutes in.
Known for their defensive strength and toughness, the Jets' blueline was out of sorts, appearing to gift the Canucks chance after chance. Even projected Vezina Trophy finalist Connor Hellebuyck couldn't stop the bleeding, despite making 32 of 37 saves.
Bowness gave credit to the Canucks as having played a "great game" but still wished his team had shown up like they did three weeks ago.
"They played a great game, but it's just the same team we came in here three weeks ago and played, so that's on us.
"We didn't have one player play a good game. It starts there."
The Canucks and Jets next faceoff April 18 — the last game of the regular season.
