Winnipeg Jets head coach Rick Bowness is returning to the bench after missing the past four games while recovering from a minor procedure.
"We had to deal with a couple of things. Just the body reminding me I’m 69 and not 39," Bowness said, according to the Winnipeg Sun, after participating in practice on Tuesday.
Also returning to practice was forward Gabriel Vilardi, who skated in a regular jersey for the first time this month. Vilardi has missed the last 13 games with an enlarged spleen.
Bowness told reporters the Jets were still not sure when Vilardi will return to game action.
“We have to push him to see how much discomfort there’s going to be when we really push him,” Bowness said. “It’s one thing to work him out on your own and everything else, but when you get one of our coaches pushing him we know how far we can push him. We’ve got to find out.”
The Jets, who have lost three straight, will return to home ice Tuesday night when they host the Edmonton Oilers.
