The Winnipeg Jets could be without veteran defenceman Colin Miller for the foreseeable future.
Miller was hit in the throat by a deflected puck in the first period of Saturday's 4-2 loss to the Detroit Red Wings and didn't return to the game.
The 32-year-old had played just five minutes and 28 seconds before suffering the injury.
“Pretty serious,” Jets head coach Scott Arniel said of the injury post-game. "We’ll just wait and see. He’s got to get looked at here a little bit more, and then we’ll have a little bit more of an idea."
Miller, a 10-year NHL veteran, has now played in 34 games this season with Winnipeg. He has two goals, eight points and has recorded a plus-8 rating. Entering Saturday's contest, the right-shot D-man was averaging over 14 minutes of ice time per game for the Jets.
The Sault Ste. Marie, Ont. native was acquired by Winnipeg at the 2024 trade deadline from the New Jersey Devils in exchange for a 2026 fourth-round pick.
In 46 total games last season, Miller scored four goals and collected five assists.
