The Winnipeg Jets could be getting a boost to their blueline.
Defenceman Dylan Samberg returned to the ice on Friday ahead of the team's Saturday game against the Ottawa Senators (7 p.m. ET / 4 p.m. PT on Sportsnet, Sportsnet+).
Samberg broke his foot after blocking a slapshot from Nashville Predators forward Steven Stamkos in late November.
The Saginaw, Minn., native had been a breakout star for Winnipeg this season, totalling a plus-12, three goals and 12 points in 20 games.
A left-shooting defenceman, Samberg is averaging a career high of 20 minutes 51 seconds of ice time per game.
If Samberg is unable to return for Saturday's contest, his next opportunity for game action would be Monday against the Predators.
Meanwhile, Winnipeg recalled defenceman Dylan Coghlan from the Manitoba Moose of the American Hockey League, the team announced.
Coghlan, 26, has made one appearance with the Jets this season and has one goal in two games with the Moose.
Winnipeg leads the Central Division with a 25-10-1 record and 51 points.
