The Winnipeg Jets are giving general manager Kevin Cheveldayoff a three-year extension, according to Sportsnet's Ken Wiebe.
Cheveldayoff has held the position since the club relocated to Winnipeg from Atlanta in 2011. He previously served as assistant GM with the Chicago Blackhawks from 2009-11.
The 52-year-old from Blaine Lake, Sask., was a finalist for the NHL's General Manager of the Year Award during the 2017-18 season as the Jets reached the Western Conference final for the first time in franchise history.
Winnipeg missed the playoffs this season, ending a four-year postseason streak, finishing with a 39-32-11 record and eight points back of the Nashville Predators for the final wild-card berth.
The Jets' season ended Sunday with a 4-3 win at home over the Seattle Kraken.
Cheveldayoff will have some work to do this off-season as the Jets have four players set to become restricted free agents including forward Pierre-Luc Dubois. Meanwhile, centre Paul Stastny is slated for unrestricted free agency.
Also to be determined is the fate of interim head coach Dave Lowry, who helped the Jets to a 26-22-6 record after Paul Maurice resigned on Dec. 17.
