Winnipeg Jets netminder Connor Hellebuyck is out with a non-COVID illness, meaning backup David Rittich will get the start Tuesday night against the Ottawa Senators, head coach Rick Bowness announced.
Bowness expects Hellebuyck to re-join the team for its two-game road trip after hosting the Senators.
Earlier on Tuesday, the Jets called up goaltender Arvid Holm from the AHL's Manitoba Moose on an emergency basis.
Hellebuyck, 29, is having an outstanding season with the Jets so far, posting a 16-7-1 record to go with a .928 save percentage in 24 appearances.
Rittich has been less successful. In seven appearances, the 30-year-old has gone 4-3 with a .898 save percentage.
Holm, meanwhile, is posting strong numbers in the AHL. In 12 games with the Moose, he has a 7-3-2 record and a .923 save percentage. The 24-year-old 2017 sixth-round pick has yet to make his NHL debut.
