Winnipeg Jets leading goal-scorer Mark Scheifele is day-to-day and could return to the lineup for Game 5, head coach Rick Bowness said Tuesday.
Scheifele suffered a suspected shoulder injury in Monday's Game 4 loss and did not finish the game. The injury occurred after Scheifele fell awkwardly into the boards after being stopped by Vegas goalie Laurent Brossoit on a breakaway.
The Jets are already without top defenceman Josh Morrissey for at least the remainder of the series with a suspected right knee injury, while forward Nikolaj Ehlers is still waiting for medical clearance after suffering an upper-body injury late in the season. Bowness said Tuesday that Ehlers will skate with the team when they return to practice on Wednesday.
“It’s unfortunate obviously to lose Mark, a guy we really rely on. The guys battled extremely hard,” Blake Wheeler said after the game. “Bad luck, whatever you want to call it."
Scheiefele led the Jets with 42 goals this season and was third on the team with 68 points.
The Golden Knights lead the series 3-1 and can eliminate the Jets on home ice in Game 5 on Thursday night. Puck drop on Sportsnet and SN NOW is scheduled for 10 p.m. ET / 9 p.m. CT.
