Jets' Mason Appleton out 8-12 weeks with wrist injury

Winnipeg Jets head coach Rick Bowness explains why he believes veteran forward Sam Gagner will fit in well on the top line with Mark Scheifele and Kyle Connor, meanwhile Blake Wheeler says he's a guy that can play up or down in any lineup.

Winnipeg Jets forward Mason Appleton is expected to miss 8-12 weeks after undergoing wrist surgery, coach Rick Bowness said Wednesday.

Appleton suffered the injury Sunday against the Seattle Kraken when he fell awkwardly into the boards.

Appleton has one goal and five assists in 14 games with the Jets this season.

Bowness also said there is no timetable for the return of forward Nikolaj Ehlers (undisclosed injury), who has played just two games this season.
